A Real Helpfile or PDF Manual and PDF Reference Manual

Stage: In Progress

Campaign: Features Wishlist

With the Release of V11, this idea is more important than ever. Watching Video's of New features is fine, but not useful for REAL Programming. The Video's seem to skim over important information which you don't know is important until you try one of the new features and it doesn't work and there is little or no help available. While the WIKI was a valiant attempt to improve help, it is a BIG failure in my opinion and ...more »

Answer from A5 on features with more than 15 or 20 up votes

Stage: In Progress

Campaign: Features Wishlist

That's it - that's my whole Idea. I think if an item on this list gets enough votes, I'd like to see some response from the A5 peeps. I currently see only 5 that have 20 votes or more (and at least one of them has been implemented - um, check it off as "done" maybe?) - and only a few more with 15 votes. For that small number of wish list items, I don't think it would be an undue burden for someone from The Big Giant ...more »

Multi Core X64 Bit Version

Stage: In Progress

Campaign: Features Wishlist

How many of us went out and bought I5 and I7 workstations and XEON Servers to run Alpha? What do you get for the added expense? Nothing, because Alpha is a 32 bit single core Executable. You could actually see your wait times increased with a new system if you purchase a slower clock speed, but more cores, CPU. Of course other factors also play a role, such as hard driver and memory speeds. But if Alpha was a true ...more »

Alpha Five Cookbook

Stage: In Review

Campaign: Features Wishlist

How about a cookbook that is chock-full of code recipes that address common programming tasks, as well as techniques for building web apps. Something that allows one (especially newbies) to copy and paste the code samples into a project. This would allow us to get a program done faster and reduce the learning curve in the process.

Freeze (first) column - just like the Excel Freeze Option

Stage: In Review

Campaign: Features Wishlist

We have huge grids/ Repeating sections and when the user scrolls to the right he can no longer see the Row Label column(s). We would like to be able to freeze 1 - 3 columns into place as a row label, so that these columns can be seen no matter how much the user scrolls. Just fix them in place. I am not talking about the column tiles/headings, I know this has been done, but about the complete column with each cell in every ...more »

Calendar / Scheduler V11

Stage: In Review

Campaign: Features Wishlist

Having seen a sneak preview at the London Conference (thanks Alpha and Avanquest) please make this available on the desktop also. If the licencing issues make it an extra cost add on then so be it. It would be such a great feature in both the web and desktop arenas.

Web - HTML Editor everywhere where HTML is accepted

Stage: In Review

Campaign: Features Wishlist

In several places (Column Labels, Buttons, Menus) in fact it is possible to use Unicode text, but the editor does not allow Unicode input. You have to go somewhere else, type Unicode text, and then Copy and Paste the HTML code.

All these places should launch the HTML editor when clicked in the develpoment environement.

Finish Security Module

Stage: In Review

Campaign: Features Wishlist

The Security Modules in Alpha5 seem incomplete. I can add users and groups, and a login page, however, these screens seem to be missing...

-Logout

-Group Maint

-User ID / Password Maint

-Secret Question Maint

-ULink Value Maint

Please add these in your next version so we don't have to scower the forum & internet to setup basic security. Thanks.

Application Server Xbasic Scheduler for Web Projects

Stage: In Review

Campaign: Features Wishlist

I would like to see a feature built into the application server that would allow for the scheduling of xbasic scripts or functions to run at a specified interval or days in web applications.

This could be taken one step further also with the addition of an event handler, where you could specify xbasic code to execute on specified events for example a new file is added to a directory.

Grid Edit - Show/Hide "available fields" & far left column

Stage: In Review

Campaign: Features Wishlist

Once I get a grid started, I don't need to see Available Fields or the far left column all the time. They're just taking up screen space. I think a Show/Hide button for each would be marvelous. I like to work with A5 on half my screen, whatever reference I'm using on the other. Right now, it's all squished, and the little "..." button to get at some of the controls doesn't even show unless I enlarge past half screen. ...more »
